What is a clean install

Play Windows 8.1 cleanly

You need this program: Windows Installation Media Creation Tool, Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder, License Crawler, all free, for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1

Until recently, there was no practical way of reinstalling the operating system for buyers of a PC with pre-installed Windows, despite a valid Microsoft license. They didn't have a setup DVD and Microsoft offered no way of downloading one in the form of an ISO file. The software company has now made up for that.

That's how it's done: Start the "Windows Installation Media Creation Tool" on any computer and select the operating system for which you have a license on the interface. To do this, make the appropriate selection “8.1” or “8.1 Pro” in the “Edition” field, depending on whether the simple Core or Pro version is currently running on your PC. In the case of the language below, “German” is usually correct, with “Architecture” you also make your selection, ie 32- or 64-bit.

Confirm the settings with a click on "Next" and in the next step specify whether you want to download the current Windows as an ISO file in order to then burn an installation DVD from it, or whether you want to use a USB stick want to configure for Windows setup. This requires at least 4 GB of storage space.

Now you have to be patient for at least ten minutes. With slow Internet connections, the download of the approximately 3 GB file takes correspondingly longer.

Before reinstalling Windows 8.1, you should read out and save all serial numbers of the software that has already been installed, including Windows, using one of the two programs Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder or License Crawler.
