The breakfast meat

This type of processing kills germs and reliably protects the meat products from re-infection. The products have a long shelf life. Luncheon meat is minced and cured, minced pork with portions of lean meat, bacon and rind. During the cooking process, the meat juice gels into a solid block. You can enjoy the product fried in thick slices with scrambled or fried eggs, but mostly cold as a delicious topping on bread.

The history

In 1937 the Hormel Foods Corporation of Austin, Minnesota, USA brought the first breakfast meat to the market with the brand "Spam". "Spam" is a catchy word creation from "Spiced Ham". Historically, the product was used to provide food for the military during World War II. Patriotic "Hormel girls" transported the luncheon meat to the GI's from coast to coast. 16 Hormel girls even founded a spam band, which turned out to be an ingenious advertising move. The Hormel girls gave in for up to 8 years In 1945, American Luncheon Meat also ensured the food supply for Soviet soldiers.
