Lyndon Baines Johnson (Woody Harrelson), whom his companions only call LBJ, is a passionate and committed politician of the Democratic Party in the USA. After the young Senator John F. Kennedy (Jeffrey Donovan) was named a Democratic presidential candidate instead of him in 1960, LBJ agreed to support him in the election campaign. So he managed to rise to Vice President after Kennedy's election victory in 1961. But then on November 22nd, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was murdered and on the same day LBJ was sworn in as his successor - with the heavy burden of the office of President of the USA suddenly resting on his shoulders. Is LBJ even able to cope with this immense pressure and can he cope with the greatest challenge of his political career?
