How can I delete Minecraft Forge

Minecraft: remove mods - here's how

If one of your Minecraft mods causes crashes or errors, you should remove the extension. Depending on whether you are using a ModInstaller or have copied the data manually, you have to proceed differently.

Remove Minecraft mods using the ModInstaller

If you have installed the unwanted mods via the ModLoader, you can delete the files relatively easily. However, you can only remove all extensions at once in this way.

  1. Start the ModInstaller on your computer and select your Minecraft version at the beginning.
  2. Click "Restore" on the right and wait a moment for the tool to restore the original Minecraft files.
  3. Then start Minecraft as usual. All mods are gone now.

Uninstall Minecraft mods manually

If you have imported your mods into Minecraft manually, you can rarely remove the extensions individually:

  1. To do this, search for the corresponding .jar file in the directory "C: \ Users \ Username \ AppData \ Roaming \ .minecraft \ versions \ 1.8.3". Instead of the "Username" folder, select your own username and instead of the sequence of numbers "1.8.3" select the Minecraft version on your PC.
  2. Open the Java file with a pack program such as 7-Zip or WinRAR.
  3. Then delete all files of the unwanted modification that you have previously copied into it.
  4. If you no longer know which files belong to the mods, or if you overwritten system elements at the time, you have to restore the original Minecraft file. In this way, however, all installed mods will be removed.
  5. To do this, delete the .jar file and start the Minecraft launcher. Click "Play" to have the game automatically download the latest version without mods.
