Question: Q:

Good evening

following problem:

I have updated my Iphone 6 to IOS 11.

Since then I have received all incoming messages twice. First as an Imessage, then as an SMS.

I don't know what to do anymore. I've searched the settings, everything is as it was before.

I reset the iphone 2 times to factory settings and then restored the iphone as a backup. Still does not work. What can I do? It's really annoying to get all SMS messages twice.

(Would like to upload a picture, but that doesn't work either 😕)

Yo! Same **** here!

Since the update everything arrives as SMS and as iMessage! Pretty annoying! Fortunately, I only use it for chatting with my wife, but even with a chat partner it is really annoying!

Hello DiniMaranello,

thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. We have understood that since the iOS 11 update, all iMessages and SMS are displayed twice on your iPhone 6.

Please try these steps and check after each to see if the problem persists.
  1. Reset the network settings on the iPhone. Settings> General> Reset> Network Settings. (This will also reset all previously used WiFi networks and passwords, cellular settings and VPN / APN settings.)
  2. Sign out your iPhone 6 from iMessage and FaceTime. Restart the iPhone and activate it, please first iMessage and then FaceTime. Settings> Messages / FaceTime. Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
  3. Restore the iOS software and firmware using iTunes on your computer. Then do without a backup as a test and set up the iPhone as a new & empty device. Check if the problem persists in this state. Factory reset your iPhone, iPad or iPod
Learn more about messages on iPhone. Cannot send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If none of these help, please contact AppleCare Support for further assistance.

The repeated display / reminder of an incoming message (SMS / iMessage) is a feature in iOS.

Under Settings -> Notifications -> Messages you can carry out the configuration.

So also under "Repeat the hint"How often the reference to the received message should be repeated (between 0 and 10 times).
