The latter is considered to be the most dangerous and influential mafia organization, especially in the international drug trade.

Are not only gangsters, but also benefactors. Because the yakuza see themselves as descendants of the samurai who are revered in Japan and who take in “worthless” people. More than 80,000 members make the Yakuza the most powerful criminal organization in the world. 22 clans divide the entire underworld of Japan among themselves. Her business model: drug trafficking, gambling and prostitution. The goings-on are watched by men in black suits, dotted with striking tattoos underneath, who do not shrink from murder.

The Hells Angels Motorcycle Club (HAMC) was founded in California in 1948 by WWII veterans. In the course of the 1960s, the group expanded first across the United States and then to other continents. The Swiss Martin “Tino” Schippert is considered to be the founder of the first Hells Angels group in Europe. The biker gang is now represented in 32 countries with so-called “charters” (local or national clubs). Their basic values ​​are: honesty, reliability, respect and freedom. One recognizes the Angels by a skull with wings ("Deathhead"), which they carry on their back. In addition to the arms trade and drugs, prostitution in particular forms the economic basis of the Hells Angels.

Triads are the names of the Chinese mafia organizations, whose members operate all over the world. The headquarters are in Hong Kong, where there are between fifty and sixty triads. As a symbol they wear the dragon, which in China symbolizes strength and wisdom. A triad has up to 20,000 members. These gangs are notorious for their particularly brutal methods of punishing their own members. The triads were founded by peasants and monks who rebelled against the rule of the Ming Chinese. Only after the European colonization did they turn to criminal machinations.

5. Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13)

The name of the gang is made up of the words Mara (which stands for gang, but also for the particularly aggressive type of ant Marabunta), Salva (Salvadoran) and Trucha (Spanish slang for vigilance). The MS-13, as the gang is also called, is based in Central America, but now also has bases in the USA and Europe. Its members are considered extremely ruthless and are known to kill bystanders without scruples. The Mara is mainly active in drug and weapons smuggling.

In the late 1960s, the Aryan Brotherhood was established in St. Quentin Prison. It is also known as "The Brand" or "AB" and is responsible for a quarter of all prison murders. Whoever wants to be admitted has to murder an inmate. Anyone who tries to leave the gang will be murdered themselves. Their name means "Aryan brotherhood" and stands for the sympathy of the Nazi ideology and symbolism.

The Mexican Mafia, also known as La Eme or MM for short, is one of the largest prison gangs in the USA. It was founded in the 1950s in Tracy Prison in California. In the meantime the MM has strongholds in all major prisons. The approximately 30,000 members maintain close ties to the Aryan Brotherhood, for which contract killings are often committed. The rules of conduct are: no betrayal, no homosexuality, no cowardice. In addition, members freely undertake to financially support incarcerated gang bosses.

The Black Guerilla Family, also known as the Black Family or Black Vanguard, has around 50,000 members in the USA. The gang was founded in 1966 by George Jackson, a militant member of the Black Panther party, to protect the dignity of black prisoners. Over time, the Black Family made a name for itself through brutal acts of violence. The gang still sees itself today as a political group with Marxist roots. No wonder that the extreme right-wing Aryan Brotherhood is one of its intimate enemies.

The Crips were founded in 1969 by two then 16-year-olds. At first the gang consisted only of a loose network of different street gangs. Due to severe social tensions in their home region of South Los Angeles, the Crips' power and influence rose rapidly over the years. They have around 300,000 members who wear a blue scarf as a sign of identification. The gang is considered to be very violent, not only fighting the rivals of the Bloods, but also often engaging in brutal power struggles internally. The area of ​​influence of the Crips extends as far as Canada.

The Bloods, whose real name is Blood Alliance, formed in 1972 as a split from the Crips, which they have been facing in deep hostility ever since. There have been numerous deaths in the gang wars in the past. From the beginning, the Bloods were considered particularly brave, so that they received a lot of influx from initially hostile, smaller gangs. The Bloods recruit their offspring mainly from Afro-American school children, to whom they give a feeling of protection and belonging. In addition, access to expensive clothes, jewelry and cash is also attractive. The members also call themselves CKs (Crips Killer). Your distinguishing mark is a red scarf.
