What are the must-buys in California

California: San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas in 18 days - California forum, questions, topics

Hi Rumarue,

ask a crowd, I'll try a few answers:

Planning with the fork flight is good. I would fly back from Las Vegas rather than San Diego as there are more flights from Las Vegas. You have a better chance of a good connection, e.g. via New York or Chicago.

Highway 1 should be driven south from San Francisco, as it is then on the ocean side of the road and it is easier to get to the parking lots.

In LA you can stay in Venice or Santa Monica. Santa Monica is the slightly better area. But I don't have a really good hotel recommendation.

River rafting on the Colorado River is offered by Papillon from Las Vegas. But I haven't done it yet. Here the link:

I did whale watching from LA. In the district of Long Beach we saw several blue whales, many dolphins, a sunfish and sea lions sunbathing on the open sea with this provider:

The Universal Studios are definitely a "must-have" for a whole, eventful day. The Waterworld stunt show is crazy. I've seen it at least five times and I'm always thrilled.

I'm not a Transformers fan at all, but the new Transformers attraction is great. Outside there is a 3.5 m high robot walking around interacting with the audience for photos and such. Very well done!

A national park with animals becomes difficult. I definitely recommend the Grand Canyon (there are squirrels and eagles there, but you can already fly through it with the helicopter on the rafting tour) and the Bryce Canyon, both fantastic natural wonders. And at Bryce Canyon I saw a rodeo once, that was something with animals ...

How about your interest in national parks, even if it's just rocks and canyons? The further tour planning naturally depends on this.
