Sells Macy's NYX cosmetics

Make-up in New York

There is a huge selection of make-up, cosmetics and personal care products in New York. You can also buy branded products here that are no longer available in Germany. The best addresses for make-up and care products in New York are drug stores, exclusive boutiques or department stores. Incidentally, stores like Victoria's Secret also offer beauty products. No matter what you are looking for, if you love cosmetics you will be amazed! Make sure you leave some space in your suitcase! Also not entirely unimportant: the products are usually much cheaper here than in Germany.

Make-up and beauty products that are not available in Germany

Thanks to international blogs, make-up instructions on Internet platforms and television programs, we are also familiar with products and brands that don't even exist in Germany. You can find these in the US - and for a good price! For example, many people buy “redness relief eye drops”, drops that are supposed to have a calming effect on red or stressed eyes. The “Rosebud Salve” lip balm is also a popular export hit with many women. And don't forget the Lady Speedstick deodorant.

The best cosmetic stores in New York

I asked my wife which New York cosmetic stores sell the best beauty and skin care products. Here you will find the best tips!

Sephora

True beauty fans should definitely stop by Sephora. This department store focuses exclusively on personal care products. You will find brands such as Bumble & Bumble, NARS, Make-up For Ever (MUFE), Urban Decay, KVD Vegan Beauty and Rosebud Salve. The nicest Sephora store can be found at 119 Fifth Avenue.

Bath & Body Works

Bath & Body Works is always busy, and not without reason: The store sells fun and affordable products and has great deals on a regular basis. But be careful, can you resist temptations like “Buy 3 items and get 2 for FREE” or “4 items for $ 20”? Here you will find everything there is in the field of personal care, but also household items such as scented candles.

Cosmetic Market

The Cosmetic Market sells both cheap and expensive brands. Most of the products are not from the current season and are therefore heavily discounted. Think of $ 1.50 nail polish or $ 5 foundation. The shop is kind of an outlet where browsing is definitely worth it! Before you pay, however, make sure you have the correct color, as products and packaging are sometimes mixed up.

Drugstores

American drugstores are comparable to dm, Rossmann and Müller in Germany. The biggest difference to German drugstores is that you can pick up your prescription drugs here and often get fresh groceries. The drugstores have a huge range. The best-known drugstore chains include CVS, Duane Reade and Walgreens. Some Duane Reade and Walgreens branches are open 24/7. Most drug stores offer you a loyalty card, which has many advantages if you shop there regularly. These drugstores sell branded products that are difficult to obtain in Germany, such as Covergirl, Milani, Neutrogena and Wet ’n‘ Wild. You will of course also find well-known brands such as L’Oréal, Revlon, Rimmel and Maybelline. St. Ives products (try the ‘apricot scrub’!) And Aveeno are also very popular.

Smaller cosmetic stores and perfumeries

In addition to the large, well-frequented drugstores and department stores, it is definitely worth checking out the smaller and specialized boutiques. For example, SoHo has the only NARS store in the world. The flagship store of this famous brand is nice, small and quiet. All own products are sold here. On the same street you will also find Bond No. 9, where you can buy beguiling perfumes. These perfumes are quite expensive, but just browsing is a pleasure for the eyes and nose.

Another nice perfumery is Le Labo in NoLiTa (in the north of Little Italy). There are powerful fragrances and very high quality perfumes here. You can find some classics here like ROSE 31, SANTAL 33 and TUBEREUSE 40 (which is only available in New York). It is even possible that you (have) designed your own brand. An ideal shop to find a special gift!

The favorite brands of makeup artists

Space NK offers a wide range of luxury cosmetics. The brands are likely to be a little less known to us. The shop is nicely decorated and all items are neatly displayed. A great way to start looking for new products!

M.A.C. is one of the better known, larger brands with several branches in New York. The large, overcrowded flagship store is in Times Square. Better go to Greenwich Village if you want to visit a smaller and quieter branch. Shopping at M.A.C in New York is worth it! With a favorable exchange rate, you pay five euros less for a lipstick than in Germany.

By the way, have you heard of Ricky's N.Y.C.? It's a really cool business! Ricky's N.Y.C. sells lipsticks and hair dyes in all colors of the rainbow, but also wigs and masks, for example. In some branches there is even a hairdresser: Revolver Salon. At the Broadway office, you can have your hair dyed by a Manic Panic team. At Ricky's N.Y.C. there are also NYX products for sale. According to experts, this brand offers great value for money.

Woodbury Common Outlets

Do you love shopping but don't want to spend too much money? Then take a day trip to Woodbury Common! There are more than 220 shops full of designer clothes, but also many beauty shops. This stylish outlet center is about an hour outside of New York. For example, you will find stores from:

  • BareMinerals
  • The Cosmetics Company Store (with products from Bobbi Brown, Clinique and Lancôme)
  • L’Occitane
  • Lancôme Outlet
  • Perfumania (50% discount on perfumes)

Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s

In the luxury Macy’s department store you can find items from brands such as Chanel and Dior. Tip: Download my Eric’s New York app and get a 10% discount!
Bloomingdale’s can be compared to Macy’s: Here, too, there are the famous, luxurious brands. Bloomingdale’s, however, is a bit more spacious, which makes shopping a little more pleasant.
